YumYum

Privacy Policy

Effective September 22, 2026 Version 1.3 Applies to Android & iOS app

YumYum is a short-video app for discovering food near you. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect when you use it, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

The table below lists every category of data YumYum collects, matching what you'll see in the app's Play Store / App Store data-safety disclosures.

Data type What it includes Why we collect it
Phone number The number you sign in with, verified via a one-time SMS code (Firebase Authentication). Creating and securing your account. We never see or store the SMS code itself.
Profile info Username, display name, and profile photo, if you add one. Shown on your profile and next to content you post.
Precise location Your device's GPS coordinates, sent with each request for your nearby feed. When you post a reel, the place you tag is stored with it. Finding food reels and places near you, and showing where a reel was made. Not used for advertising, not sold.
Videos & photos Any video or image you choose to upload as a reel. Publishing your content and streaming it to other users.
Camera & microphone Live video and sound while you record a reel inside the app. Recording the reel you choose to post. Nothing is captured until you press the record button.
Activity Likes, comments, views, follows, saves, and search terms. Building your feed, showing engagement counts, ranking content.
Push notification token A device identifier issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging. Delivering notifications (likes, comments, new followers). You can turn this off any time.
Reports & blocks Reports you send about a reel or user, and the users you block. Reviewing reports, removing content that breaks our rules, and hiding blocked users from your feed.
Creator analytics For accounts that opt into creator/blogger tools: link clicks and content performance. Showing creators how their content and links are performing.
Device & log data IP address, app version, and basic request metadata in our server logs. Keeping the service running, debugging problems, preventing abuse.

Permissions this app requests

Location Camera Microphone Notifications

Each is requested only when a feature needs it — location when you open your feed, camera and microphone when you record a reel, and notifications after you post your first reel. Choosing a video from your gallery uses Android's built-in picker, so YumYum only receives the video you select and needs no storage permission. You can revoke any of these later in your device's system settings; the app will simply lose the related feature (for example, the feed can't show nearby content without location, and reels record without sound if the microphone is off).

How we use it

  • To create your account, keep you signed in, and identify you to other users by your chosen username.
  • To show you a feed of food reels near your current location.
  • To let you record a reel with your camera and microphone when you choose to.
  • To store, process, and stream any video or photo you upload.
  • To power counts and rankings — likes, views, trending content, follower/following lists.
  • To send you notifications you've opted into.
  • To review reports, enforce our Terms of Service and community rules, and keep the service secure.

YumYum does not currently show ads. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal data. If we add ads in the future, we will update this policy and the app's data-safety disclosures first.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We do rely on a small set of infrastructure providers to run the app — each only receives the data it needs to do its specific job.

Firebase (Google)
Sign-in & push notifications
Supabase
Database hosting
Mux
Video processing & streaming
Cloudflare R2
Media file storage
Railway
Application hosting

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or as part of a merger or acquisition — in which case this policy would continue to apply to your data under the new ownership.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, videos, and activity history within 30 days, except where we're required to retain something longer for legal or fraud- prevention reasons. Location sent with feed requests is used to serve that request and is not retained beyond it. The place you tag on a reel is kept with the reel until the reel or your account is deleted.

Your choices

  • Edit or delete your profile — from Settings inside the app.
  • Delete your account — in the app (Profile → ⋯ → Delete Account) or from our account deletion page. Your profile, reels, and activity stop showing right away and are permanently removed within 30 days.
  • Turn off notifications — in your device's notification settings for YumYum.
  • Revoke location, camera, or microphone access — in your device's app permission settings.
  • Request a copy of your data — email us and we'll provide it.

Children

YumYum is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to production data is limited to what's needed to operate the service. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app before the changes take effect.
